In the last couple of decades, the way we learn has changed drastically. Online learning methods have replaced traditional classroom-based classes. They blend the flexibility of prerecorded lessons along with class discussions that are held in real-time using software. Even these online methods may not be enough for students who prefer classrooms with real-time interaction.
Live online learning is a different strategy to other online education strategies. It permits instructors and students to communicate in real-time through videoconferencing programs like Zoom. The classes provide students with the chance to ask questions, clear up confusion, and gain a deeper understanding about the material being taught.
While there are many benefits when it comes to live learning but it can be challenging for some students to adapt to this electronic stores and their benefits kind of online learning. This study analyzes the student’s ability to learn online and identifies core elements that affect this. The findings reveal that motivation for learning, self-directed learning and online communication are the most significant influencing factors. The researchers also conducted a multi-group study and post hoc test to evaluate the differences between gender, undergraduate, graduate and sub-degree students. It was discovered that postgraduate students are more ability to perform in all aspects of live learning compared to undergraduate and sub-degree students.
It is suggested that instructors set clear expectations of what students have to know and do before, during and after the Live Session. This includes providing supplementary materials like summary, gist quizzes concepts maps, outlines and study guides. Instructors should also create exercises to reinforce what students have learned, such as reviewing, practicing debating, analyzing, and discussing.
